SMS Shift Alerts — How Opt-In Works

Effective August 28, 2026

CareRelay offers optional SMS shift alerts to care professionals who want them. SMS is not required to use CareRelay — you can create an account, browse open shifts, and claim shifts in the CareRelay platform without ever enabling text messages, and you can choose email alerts instead (or no alerts at all). We never send marketing texts, and we never enable SMS on anyone's behalf.

How a worker opts in (entirely optional)

  1. Create a CareRelay worker account. During signup, choose how you want shift alerts: Email (pre-selected by default), SMS, or Skip for now — your account is created either way, and SMS is never pre-selected.
  2. Choosing SMS additionally reveals a standalone consent checkbox — unchecked by default — directly beneath your mobile number. SMS turns on only if you check it yourself; if you don't, you get email alerts instead.
  3. After signup, the SMS toggle in your profile settings stays off unless you opted in.
  4. Enabling SMS displays this disclosure:

“Turn on SMS to get instant shift alerts from CareRelay — this is optional. By enabling SMS, you agree to receive recurring automated texts from CareRelay at the number on file about available shifts, confirmations, and shift logistics. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out anytime, HELP for help. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you skip SMS, you can still get email alerts or view and claim open shifts anytime in your CareRelay account.”

  1. We send a confirmation text, and every message thereafter supports STOP and HELP.
  2. You can turn SMS off — or back on — at any time in settings, or by replying STOP. Either way, your account and access to shifts are unaffected.

What opting in looks like

Worker application · the notification-preference step

The CareRelay worker application notification step: the worker's editable mobile number, alert options with Email pre-selected by default, and — once Text me is chosen — a standalone unchecked consent checkbox above the full SMS disclosure with Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links.
The live opt-in step at carerelay.health/work/apply: Email is pre-selected by default, SMS is never pre-selected, and choosing “Text me” reveals a standalone consent checkbox — unchecked until the worker checks it — with the full disclosure on the same screen.

What we send (only if you opt in)

Available shift offers, shift confirmations, and shift logistics. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, HELP for help. Email alerts carry the same content and include an unsubscribe link.

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with or sold to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
